Most policies include cover under specific sections for ‘unusual’, ‘severe’, or ‘adverse’ weather conditions, given that they are unknown and unexpected at the point at which the event causing the claim occurs. There are different provisions for ‘natural catastrophe’ or ‘natural disaster’ across all wordings, so please make sure you are aware of how you are covered in the event of an avalanche, earthquake, flood, fire, hurricane, lightning, tornado, tsunami, or volcanic eruption.
Your policy will not offer compensation under this section while you are in the care of your airline or tour operator - on this basis, all costs incurred must be referred to them.
Please note that all policies include a section for general exclusions, which would mean you cannot make a claim under those circumstances listed.
