If you intend to drive a car while abroad, you are only covered for emergency medical expenses. This applies across all of the policies we offer.
Please note that if you are operating a vehicle while abroad, you will need to hold a full and valid UK driving licence.
There is no cover across policies for Personal Liability while driving. So, if you are held financially responsible for damage you cause to another person or their property, you would not be able to make a claim through your travel insurance policy. This is an industry-standard clause, and you will need to ensure that the vehicle owner, or hire company, provides you with adequate personal liability cover.
For more details and information, please refer to your Policy Wording. Otherwise, feel free to contact our UK-based customer care team on 0330 880 3600, or email enquiries@direct-travel.co.uk.
