If your travel plans are affected by a strike, or industrial action, there is cover across a majority of our policies under the appropriate sections relating to travel delay. These sections are designed to provide a fixed benefit for every 12 hours you are delayed due to unforeseen strike or industrial action. This benefit is intended to cover additional expenses incurred at the airport, such as food, drink, and toiletries.
Alternatively, if (on your outbound journey) you are delayed for over 24 hours, you can choose to abandon your holiday and make a claim under your policy for the cost. We would ask that you check the specific terms and conditions of your travel insurance policy for more details - you may have had to checked in for your flight in order to claim, and will need a letter from your airline confirming the delay.
Please note that the above terms apply given that the strike or industrial action was NOT threatened or announced prior to the date your trip was booked.
