You can purchase a travel insurance policy while pregnant, provided that a medical professional has confirmed you are fit to travel. Please note that there would not be covered for instances which are associated with normal pregnancy or childbirth where there is no accompanying complication.
Pregnancy complications could mean:
- Toxaemia
- Gestational hypertension
- Pre-eclampsia
- Hydatidiform Mole / Molar Pregnancy
- Hyperemesis gravidarum
- Placenta praevia
- Placental abruption
- Postpartum haemorrhage
- Retained placenta membrane
- Miscarriage
- Stillbirths
- Medically necessary emergency caesarean section
- Medically necessary termination
- Premature birth (with similar gestational week limits)
It is important to check your Policy Wording to make sure the policy meets your needs and is adequate for the cover you require.
